Each week we will display our brew of the week. Get to know your craft beverages beer by beer! For the most part, we choose tasty and interesting brews. However, once in a while we taste a beer that is so bad, it deserves the spotlight as well!

Know a beer you think we should highlight? Let us know!

 BREW OF THE WEEK

BOTW ~ Week of August 19th, 2015

Lagunitas Brewing Company

Lil' Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale

Lagunitas Brewing Company thrills us with alot of good brews that have a strong, and sometimes a lil’ out there, character. Lil’ Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale is no different. It’s not the strongest beer they have by far - but it’s a warm, hoppy, yet crisp brew experience with a good wheat backbone. You’d perhaps expect this to be an IPA rather than an ale. It pours to a nice golden color with medium body and carbonation. The aroma is very mild, but don’t be fooled. Within the first sip your palate is awakened with a mouth full of pale hops that quickly make way for the piney-fruity notes of this brew - and we swear there’s a touch of brown sugar or some other sort of malty sweetness in there, too. It is very subtle though. Just enough to balance the bitterness of those wonderful hops (and a bit of yeast) that linger on the tongue. You really can’t go wrong - especially if you are looking for something drinkable with a nice lil' kick from the 7.5% ABV. We happily give Lagunitas a tall 3 out of 5 bottles for this Lil’ Sumpin’ Sumpin’.
